August 31, 2017

Leave (vacation and sick) accruals for the August 2017 MO payroll (check date 9/1/17) were calculated incorrectly for non-academic, EXEMPT employees due to a technical issue. The impacted population received accruals in whole hours instead of the normal factored amounts. 

Leave adjustments will be made to ensure balances are corrected. These adjustments will be reflected in PPS on Thursday, August 31, 2017. At that time, you will be able to see the corrected vacation and sick balances.

To All Berkeley employees:

This is a reminder that Daylight Saving Time begins on this Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 2:00 AM

For departments with employees that use a time clock, the CalTime system should automatically adjust time clocks forward one hour based upon daylight saving time (e.g., at 2:00 am the system will adjust one hour forward to 3:00 AM), and nothing additional should be required.

On March 30, 2017 the CalTime system will be upgraded to Kronos version 8.  Updating CalTime to the latest software will secure system performance and will improve the overall look and feel of CalTime while eliminating a few steps to accomplish tasks.

Odds are, if you are not on the faculty, you either are in CalTime already, or you will be in CalTime as of November 1, 2014. If you are wondering where you fit in CalTime, here are the details about who is already in CalTime, who is going into CalTime, and who is not.

Who Is In CalTime Now

Most exempt staff (which generally means staff who are salaried, who are not eligible for overtime, and who report leave in whole-day increments).

Effective September 1, 2014, exempt employees* who are eligible to accrue vacation and sick leave will accrue leave based on a factor accrual leave rate. *Exempt employees are those who are not eligible to earn overtime. Inclusion of employees in positions covered by collective bargaining agreements is subject to collective bargaining requirements. Academic employees eligible to accrue vacation and/or sick leave will not transition to factor leave accruals.
