To All Berkeley employees:

This is a reminder that Daylight Saving Time begins on this Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 2:00 AM.

For departments with employees that use a time clock, the CalTime system should automatically adjust time clocks forward one hour based upon daylight saving time (e.g., at 2:00 am the system will adjust one hour forward to 3:00 AM), and nothing additional should be required.

On March 30, 2017 the CalTime system will be upgraded to Kronos version 8.  Updating CalTime to the latest software will secure system performance and will improve the overall look and feel of CalTime while eliminating a few steps to accomplish tasks.

RDP transition to Citrix: As of November 2, accessing CalTime via RDP is no longer available to CalTime users.  RDP users (those that previously clicked on a remote desktop protocol icon on their computer to access CalTime) must login to Citrix(link is external) to access CalTime. This may require initial setup for first time Citrix users and it is highly recommended you verify your access before an approval deadline.

Some supervisors are unable to see a checkmark in the Non-Exempt Pay Period Approval Genie after they have approved a timecard; instead, they see an "N/A".

Please see below for an interim solution to this issue:

Important changes have been made to the Non-Exempt Pay Period Approval Genie that affect the way that supervisors view their approvals in CalTime. These changes were needed due to issues that affected the performance of CalTime.

Who Is In CalTime Now

Most exempt staff (which generally means staff who are salaried, who are not eligible for overtime, and who report leave in whole-day increments).

The web has been the most convenient way for employees and supervisors who are part of CalTime to access CalTime. But many of you asked if we could eliminate the need to re-authenticate for CalTime. We heard you, and now – you can.

Starting today, you only need to sign on once. If you are logged on with your CalNet ID (to bConnected, for example), when you go to the CalTime website and click on the Web Access (HTML) button – you’re in. (Of course, if you are not logged in anywhere with your CalNet ID, you will still have to authenticate on CalTime – but only once.)

All accruals in CalTime are now calculated by our Payroll and Personnel System (PPS).  Employees can view their current leave balance in CalTime once the accrual is granted by PPS at the beginning of each month.  Employees can no longer project future leave balances in CalTime.

Effective September 1, 2014, exempt employees* who are eligible to accrue vacation and sick leave will accrue leave based on a factor accrual leave rate. *Exempt employees are those who are not eligible to earn overtime. Inclusion of employees in positions covered by collective bargaining agreements is subject to collective bargaining requirements. Academic employees eligible to accrue vacation and/or sick leave will not transition to factor leave accruals.
