Optional Extended Thanksgiving Instructions: Users Reporting Leave Without Pay on 11/23, 11/24 and 11/25

Process for reporting leave without pay during the optional days off prior to Thanksgiving

What should I do?

Follow instructions below and use the new Curtailment-LWOP (leave without pay) pay code

 

To Eligible Leave Accruing Employees,

If you are participating in the optional time off prior to Thanksgiving and plan to report the time off as leave without pay, please use the Curtailment-LWOP pay code in CalTime. This applies to eligible employees that will record time off as Curtailment-LWOP (on 11/23, 11/24 & 11/25) and per People and Culture, should continue to accrue vacation and sick leave credits during these days, even when unpaid.

If you meet the eligibility conditions below, please use the pay code "Curtailment-LWOP" (LWOP stands for Leave Without Pay) to record leave on 11/23, 11/24 and 11/25.

 Eligibility:

  • plan to use leave without pay to account for your time off (instead of using vacation in advance of accrual or existing accrued vacation and or compensatory time). You may be eligible to use vacation in advance of accrual instead of recording the time off as unpaid. 
  • are currently eligible to accrue vacation and/or sick leave
  • are typically scheduled to work on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (11/23-11/25), and are not working as a result of your participation in the optional extended holiday break.

Employees should not use the regular CalTime “Leave Without Pay” pay code  to record this time off during the dates above, as this may negatively affect accruals.
